Your London Massage Therapist - for men and womenWill
your massage therapist know about your concerns? Martin Kingston McCloghryCommitted to maintaining his health, Martin McCloghry stopped working in an office environment in Information Technology after some cycling injuries were aggravated by stress. He has always enjoyed Swedish Massage Therapy, but discovered the benefits of Sports Massage, a form of Deep Tissue Massage Therapy which helps athletes and non-athletes alike to cope with soft-tissue injuries, whether stress-related or not. Martin has always enjoyed sports, especially rugby and cycling. He now enjoys the excitement of motorcycling. Needless to say, he knows well the damage this sort of sport can inflict, and has been learning how Sports & Remedial Massage can help. Recently, he has taken up running, and has a weekly sports massage to help his body recover and to avoid building up bad patterns of movement that may cause imbalances and injuries. He started in practice as a London Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist a couple of years ago, and enjoys working with clients on projects to improve their health. He uses his anglo name for business, rather than the gaelic name - on the principle that if his patients can't spell his name they won't remember it! McCloghry is derived from "Clough Righ" Stone of Kings or King Stone (the keystone of an arch). So Martin Kingston is the trade name! Committed to Professional DevelopmentMartin qualified in London Swedish Massage Therapy, and studied for a degree in Remedial Massage & Neuromuscular Therapy in London (massage to you and me). He qualified in Thai Yoga Massage in London also. He is now training to be a physiotherapist. He plans to publish information potentially useful to clients on this website, so they can benefit best from his training in between sessions as well as during them. Professional AccountabilityThe world of massage therapy is almost unregulated at present. There are many therapists with no qualifications and inadequate professional accountability. There are a number of initiatives to introduce a self-regulatory body for massage therapy, like the General Osteopathic Council. The General Council for Massage Therapy (GCMT) is working to achieve this. Martin is a member of the Institute for Sports & Remedial Massage (ISRM) which is affiliated to the GCMT. He is also a member of the Sports Massage Association (SMA) which is focussing on the field of Sport for professional regulation. If you would like more information on these organisations, click on the relevant links in the Links page. Check Martin's membership if you like by referring to the registers on these other websites. Ultimately, with regulation, we hope a single unified register will be produced! Contact
